Product Details

This wonderful antique Victorian Silver Scottish Penannular brooch is Circa 1860.

Scottish jewellery was made popular by Queen Victoria as it became a souvenir of her frequent trips to Scotland and her Scottish Castle Balmoral from the mid 1800s.

This Penannular style brooch is fitted with a Silver pin which slides around the outer gallery so that it can be pinned in different ways.

The Penannular is a type of Celtic brooch which was worn as a clothes fastener by Scottish elites during the medieval period.

The brooch is adorned with banded Agates and four colourful Quartz stones all set in a beautifully engraved Silver gallery.

Quartz is a very protective and grounding stone which is said to bring protection from negative energy.

Agate is a strong mineral sometimes known as the earth rainbow for it’s patterned texture that shows varying colours the earth can produce.

This is a unique Scottish brooch that’s steeped in history, a real collectors piece!

Weighs 20.3 grams.

Measures 43mm across x 44mm down.

Pin measures 64mm down.

Excellent condition.
